i wake up to a notification on my phone that my flight is delayed and now departing at 10 AM.
i happily fall back asleep because as usual, my day was full and my packing did not happen till 11 PM.
up at 8 am, scramble to get the apartment situated for the friend who volunteered her time to stay at our place to watch over the neediest cat you will ever meet.
uber arrives at 8:20 AM, off I go to Oakland Airport.
arrive at 8:40 AM or so and head over to the check-in counter to drop off my bag.
i am informed my flight has departed. the woman shares with me that even if your flight is re-scheduled, travelers should still arrive to the airport at their original time. i asked if this was common knowledge, she paused and said, “we just recommend that you still show up for your original flight even if the app shows a new time.” the app never suggested anything like that.
my new flight would be 10 hours long as opposed to 4-ish hours. 10 AM departure from cali, arriving to lubbock, tx at 10 PM. i opted not to go.
i informed my wife and headed back home.
grabbed my camera and off i went to the city.
